Do you know what a ‘Bernoulli Trial’ is, or what ‘Caldicott Guardians’ are? This book will tell you; it offers hundreds of explanations of terms that are related to clinical trials. The entries are ordered alphabetically (from ‘absolute benefit’ to ‘Zelen’s consent design’) and vary in length and detail from only a few words to several pages with in-depth explanations and references. I think that this is an excellent reference book, but it is clearly only meant for a selected audience. If you are regularly involved in clinical trials, or often assess them in some detail (as many FACT readers do), you will find this book a valuable and up-to-date addition to your library. It could clear up a lot of confusion that exists and continues to be perpetuated in CAM. Even though many CAM enthusiasts would find the subject area a bit ‘dry’, it is this group in particular that would, in my view, benefit from studying this text thoroughly.
