NHS patients to be given Cannabis

Scientists at the Imperial College London are heading a government-funded trial to test whether Cannabis sativa is effective at relieving pain. In the £500 000 trial, 400 National Health Service patients that have undergone surgery will receive either a capsule containing standardised C. sativa extract, a capsule containing tetrahydrocannabinol, a standard pain-relieving drug, or placebo.
