This is a superb reference text on an increasingly important topic. Its title is a gross understatement. First, the authors provide full monographs of about 150 alphabetically ordered CAM modalities. The emphasis is on interactions but the information is much more comprehensive than that. Second, the authors focus on herbal medicines but, in fact, they also include many other modalities: whole systems (e.g. Ayurveda), complex non-herbal approaches (e.g. DiBella), diets (e.g. Gerson), non-herbal natural medicines (e.g. chitosan), synthetics (e.g. N-acetylcystein) and minerals (e.g. zinc) as well as vitamins. Third, the emphasis is on oncology but the book also extends to many other areas. In brief, this is an authoritative and hence essential reference book for everyone with but a fleeting interest in CAM.
