Ayurvedic diagnostic put to the test

A demographic trial with 111 hypertensive and 73 normotensive subjects was carried out in Germany. Hypertensive patients were characterised according to international recommendations. All participants received an expert-revised Ayurvedic questionnaire that was composed of a physical part and a psychic part. The dosha subtype pitta was more prevalent in the hypertensive group, the vata type in the controls. The female participants more often showed a primary vata type in the controls. The female participants more often showed a primary vata type, the male ones a primary pitta type.
