Key findings of a CAM survey in the UK

The Times commissioned a poll of 1001 adults in the UK to investigate the popularity and use of CAM. Here is what they found:

• One in four adults has tried CAM.
• Most people try CAM because conventional medicine has failed.
• Many young adults always go to their complementary therapist before their GP.
• Only one in 10 people who have tried CAM think it has made no difference.
• Many people mistakenly believe that standards and training in CAM are tightly regulated.
