Vegan diet slows child development

Research by the US Agricultural Research Service presented at the American Association for the Advancement of Science showed that children who were given animal-sourced food products were more developed than those given a vegan diet. African school children whose diet consisted of corn and bean staples were divided into four groups. The first group received a 2 oz (50 g) meat supplement daily, the second a daily milk supplement and the third an oil supplement. The fourth group’s diet was unaltered. After 2 years the meat supplement group and to a lesser extent the milk and oil groups performed better on various tests, including intelligence tests.
