Chinese herbs for dementia

Australian researchers are to test the effectiveness of a blend of three common Chinese herbs against dementia. Recruitment is underway for a trial testing the three herbs, including Gingko biloba, for slowing memory loss and improving brain function. Preclinical animal testing has shown that these herbs may increase blood circulation to the brain. Researchers are hopeful that the trial will provide clinical evidence for a treatment option for vascular dementia, which accounts for 15–20% of all dementia cases.
