Ephedra ban overturned

A US government judge has overturned the ban on Ephedra, the weight-loss supplement that has been linked to a considerable number of deaths. The supplement company Nutraceutical challenged the FDA ban, claiming that ‘ephedra has been safely consumed for hundreds of years’ and that it was ‘wrongly regulated as a drug and not a food.’ The judge agreed with Nutraceutical and referred the matter back to the FDA for further rulemaking.
