Oily fish may prevent Alzheimer’s disease

Researchers at Cardiff University, UK, have received £300 000 from the Alzheimer’s Research Trust to investigate how oily fish may protect against developing Alzheimer’s. The 3-year study will monitor the effects of different diets fed to mice with an Alzheimer’s-like disease. It is thought that the omega-3 oils found in fish oil may prevent the build-up of amyloid on the brain, which slows down brain functions.
