Objective

The aim of this systematic review was to summarise and critically evaluate the evidence from all RCTs and CCTs that are relevant to homoeopathic and homotoxicological interventions in cancer care.

Materials and methods

Electronic literature searches have been conducted using the following databases: Amed (from 1985), Cinhal (from 1982), Embase (from 1974), Medline (from 1951) and CAMbase (from 1998). The term used to retrieve the types of study design was ‘clinical trial’ and subsequently only RCTs or CCTs were selected. In order to identify the condition, the following terms were searched: cancer$.AB., carcin$.AB. and neoplasm, including all MeSH terms. Homoeopathic interventions were identified, including all MeSH terms for homeopath$.DE.

Results

Statistically significant results of each selected RCT or CCT will be evaluated and presented at the 12th Annual Symposium on Complementary Healthcare, 2005.
