A CD-ROM/video that seeks to raise awareness among both cancer patients and their healthcare providers about the growing use of complementary therapies has won the Health and Wellness category at this year’s International Health & Medical Media Awards, also known as the FREDDIE award. The entry, ‘Important Conversations: Complementary Therapies & Cancer’ was produced by MD Anderson of the Cancer Center, Houston, Texas, USA. The short film covers topics such as the potential impact of alternative therapies on conventional therapy, the importance of physician–patient communication and the legal and ethical aspects of discussing CAM use.
