Actaea racemosa (black cohosh) product wins UK licence

MH Pharma UK Ltd, supported by its German partner DiapharmGruppe, received UK approval for its brand Menoherb, which contains Actaea racemosa (black cohosh). The new registration procedures are still in the early stages in Europe. Currently the UK’s Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency has only registered four traditional herbal products under the European Traditional Herbal Medicinal Products Directive. In order to remain on the market in Europe most herbal products will have to undergo registration in the next few years to comply with the European Directive. Herbal medicines must gain approval by the end of March 2011.
