Entering a search

Use the Search function to find information by searching for a specific word or phrase.

There are two ways of searching in AHFS Drug Information:

• search for a term anywhere in the text
• search for a term in a specific section

The system uses spell checking and, for drug names, synonym control to help retrieve relevant documents.

• Enter the term you wish to search for in the search box as
  • a single word

    e.g. acetaminophen

  • a phrase enclosed in double quotes

    e.g. "febrile illness"

  • several terms separated by spaces or combined with logical operators (click here for more information)
  • a word truncated using the wildcard characters * or ?
• Click on the Search button or hit Enter to perform the search

Notes:

Searching is 'free text' so you can search for any word, but allow for spelling variations.

AHFS Drug Information uses the USAN name for titles and American English spelling for its editorial content.
